Housing is a fundamental human right, not a commodity.
Since 2009, DHARA’s Adequate Housing Program has been building safe, durable, and dignified homes for poor and vulnerable families across Jashore & Satkhira District.
How we build
Every home is different because every family is different. Houses are designed around each household’s needs, land conditions, and economic capacity.
Assess & design together
We work with each family to assess needs, land conditions, and economic capacity — then choose the right design: one-storey or two-storey, semi-permanent or permanent.
Build safe & durable
Designs prioritise safety, ventilation, sanitation, and resilience — creating healthier living environments for women, children, and the elderly.
Own & maintain
DHARA works closely with communities on proper use, maintenance, and ownership of the houses — so every home lasts for the long term.
380 homes and counting
To date, DHARA has completed 380 housing units in different communities of Jashore District — a combination of one-storied and two-storied buildings, semi-permanent and permanent structures, matched to the needs, land conditions, and economic capacity of each beneficiary family.
More than shelter
A house changes what a family can hope for. Through this program, DHARA contributes to improved health, security, and social stability — enabling families to live with dignity and focus on education, livelihoods, and overall well-being.
“A safe home is where health, security, and hope begin.”
