Unlocking the Untapped Potential of Every Woman
Since 2006, DHARA has been actively promoting economic empowerment for women through comprehensive Income-Generating Activities (IGA) training programs. Recognizing that financial independence is key to women’s empowerment and community development, DHARA provides practical skill-based training to women in rural and marginalized communities.
The training programs include a wide range of vocational skills such as:
- Wal mate, tablemat, show piece making Training
- Block Batik & Tie-dye Training
- Tailoring & Handicraft Skills training
- Shotoranji (embroidery/needlework) Training
These programs are designed not only to equip women with technical skills but also to help them develop confidence, entrepreneurship abilities, and financial literacy so they can start their own small businesses or contribute economically to their households.
Since DHARA’s inception,every year, in collaboration with many donors like, Human Development Foundation (HDF), 1% Development Fund, Irish League of Credit Union-Ireland and Bangladesh NGO Foundation (BNF), with financial support to DHARA for providing training to 100–130 women, helping them gain practical skills and become self-reliant. The organization also ensures follow-up support, mentoring, and guidance on marketing their products or services, creating opportunities for sustainable livelihoods.
Through this program, DHARA aims to reduce poverty, promote gender equality, and empower women as active economic contributors in their communities. By combining vocational skill development with practical guidance and ongoing support, the IGA program has become a cornerstone of DHARA’s efforts to promote sustainable community development and resilience.
